Hi all, been meaning to get back to this topic. I have this stamp also in a very blue color. I cannot find it in Unitrade and do not use Scott for Canada. It is Unitrade 44 variety? Note color is under yellowish halogen light, but the 44 green is nearby for comparison. The stamp paper is not the most fresh, but it does not seem affected by chemicals or sunlight to me. Stamp has a thin too.

All I have found is that there is a blue green color proof, but nothing on a stamp.

Green dye/ink can be very fugitive; green always fades to blue. IMO this is a color changling. And Wert... I can show you two screen shots of your post that show very distinct different shades from two computers, this delta proves that trying to identify color shades this way is not going to ever work. Different video cards, different divers, different operating systems, different monitors will produce/display different results.

Don..I am really trying to adapt things to stamp collecting for others to..I have listened to you talk me down constantly over the last year...Do I like it or appreciate it..??..NO...But that is who your are..sorry to say that.

Sorry, I don't feel that I have ever talked 'down to you'. In fact, I think that I have shown a lot of patience in trying to get you to understand a potential problem in some of your posts.

Of course your intent is pure, I have never, ever questioned that. But I do question some of what you have posted, in my opinion, as containing incorrect assumptions. These are almost exclusively regard the application of certain color programs and the 'color issue'.

In fact others have come out called some of your posts a 'disservice' but I have not been that harsh at all. Instead have I offer opinions as to what/why the assumptions were incorrect. You are welcome to disagree, can we not simply have a disagreement without resorting to personal insults? (Which I think is against the forums rules)

Crouse : I need to check my NSSC catalogue tonight (latest edition), because I believe that there is a Blue Green variety identifed by Walsh. I've never seen one and only referenced above the 4 normal green shade varieties....

Well thank you for posting that image above, of a variant of #45. I was wrong, incorrect, stupid in my earlier post and stand corrected now. Here is why:

The NSSC 7th edition by John Walsh and John Butt had the information that I cited above. (Side note : for Newfoundland it is the best resource, and far better and deeper than Unitrade or Scott.)

However, the 2014 9th Edition by just John Walsh has an updated and new data on this issue. I don't know why, but here is the latest information:

There are now 6 variants :

Green, November 1, 1887
Blue Green (1889)...presumably your stamp
Deep Green (1890)
Green on yellowish paper (1891)
Yellow green on yellowish paper (1895)
Pale yellow green on yellowish paper (Jan 1898)

This is why I love to hate Newfoundland--so simple on its face, but so annoying and complex....now back to the drawing board to see if I have all 6 of these...
