Hi,

I think that the purple lettering is the name of ship, likely a Dutch ship. It looks like ...ERTNE VAN... Any ideas which ship this might be?

Thanks

Mystery solved. Pagoda is correct, this is the chop of a Singapore firm: PERTILE VAN DE PALS. Mr. G. Pertile was Italian and Mr. Gilse van der Pal was Dutch. The firm operated in Singapore from 1888 to 1913. The firm is now listed on my website: http://www.michelhoude.com/BMSM/Index.html

Thanks
