Yes, Art Stamps created by the artist. Clearly for the purpose of art and not to imply postage usaage.

I suspect more likely Chinese. The left-hand painting is described as 'Listening to the Qin/Ch'in; the first character is very rare in Japanese, but more common in Chinese. The second painting is described simply as a beautiful woman if Chinese, or as a servant girl if Japanese.
