Ah, Gilles! Looks a lot like mine. And precisely four holes...how interesting. (great shade you have too)
Jim, you've confused me...I don't own any Admirals with postmarks AND OG...? |

vfstamp, I'm not at home and have to look it up but there are a couple of Admiral Issues listed in Scott and Unitrade with a round postmark on the gum side . The postmark is spread over 4 stamps. Your postmark reminded me of that Admiral issue. I do know in this period, Canada Post was trying out different methods of selling stamps in vending machines starting in the Edward VII Issue. I'll look this up when I get home if someone else doesn't do it first. |

Posted this in the Centennial Definitives thread, but feel it belongs here as well. Bought this off of a dealer in Paris for 1 euro...it jumped right off the page at me. Seems pretty major to not be identified as a constant variety so must be a freak... Aside from the '5', also note the 'A' and the 'D' in 'Canada'. |

Do you think the 5c Centennial ones are ink pulls? The '5' kind of looks doubled. |

Jim, I was only referring to the 2c QV, since all the lines apear to be pulled in the same (7 o'clock) direction |

I'm confused, gentlemen, sorry. The Admirals JIM linked have a postmark on the backside...(gum side). My Edwards aren't like that.
GILLES: what do you think of our misperfs? Any value in them? |

vfstamp,
What I am saying is that starting with the Edward VII Issue, the Post Office in Canada started experimenting with stamps selling from Vending Machines.
Originally, they were just stamps with perforations and not Coil stamps, called "Experimental Coils". These stamps were idenitified with special postmarks and found in strips.
Is it possible you have some Edward Experimental Coils? If you look at your postmark and compare them with the Admiral postmarks, you might be able to get a match.
It's actually quite a stretch because the Edward VII experimental coils stamps were imperf with notches and roulette type cuts in the margins. But maybe there were more types ... |

Ah, I see your logic. And look what I found online: http://www.harmerschau.com/cgilocal...t=725&lang=1So what I have is a paste-up strip (apparently not just for coils), numbered 90xxxi, vert strip w/ non-roller precancel. The only part missing is that it's supposed to be an Ottawa cancel...this looks like Sherbrooke. Unfortunately, there's a little hinge marking on all three stamps; akk! BUT the gum is lovely and the cancel and centering seem great for notoriously VG issue. Apart from the wrong city, I think we solved the mystery, Jim? |

vfstamp, I'm not enough of an expert on the Edward VII Issue to give you a positive ID on that. You should try to consult someone who knows more than me. This requires someone who knows the Edward stamps in detail. Good luck on this one. It looks like you have something quite interesting there. |

Any resident Edwards expert here? Regardless, I have much more information now than I did before. :) |
