I have 100's, maybe 1000's of US stamps from the 1930's- 1960's that are worth nothing. I'm thinking of just throwing them away but I hate to do that. Any ideas? I'm sure I'm not the only one. Do you all keep them?
ronv: it depends on where you live (unless you want to give to local boy/girl scout groups). I am in metro Denver and I would give stuff like that to the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library. They're always running some sort of giveaway for kids and could use the cheap, affordable, stamps. Other libraries likely do the same. You can get some information from their web site ( rmpl.org click on related links for a listing of libraries).
The American Philatelic Society has a program called "Stamps for Teachers" that accepts donations of such material and then packets it out to teachers around the country for use in classroom projects. You send your surplus to APS and they take care of the rest.
