Ebay Sales Slow Again, Where Are All The Bidders?

I find just the opposite... everything I bid on seems to have a hundred bidders against me.
And a lot of them have some very deep pockets filled with cash.

Hi KGV yes really good sales lately my penny black up to $200 in a few days, lots of folks looking since tennis in UK ended and weather changed there. Glad your rolling in the bucks my friend.

I am just starting to get some very good contacts in what I believe will be our best sellers area and that is tillandsia's or air plants.

People in the US have a huge amount of nurseries to buy these plants from but in OZ it is a very different situation.

Our sub-tropical climate here is just perfect for all the plants to thrive all year round. We have 3 largish bush houses nearly completed.It is nice to have all the materials to finish except shelving. Our projected finish time is the end of August so hoping it will be all finished soon. We have had a very unusually wet winter that has slowed us up a bit.

For the lotus we are nearly finished making a mozzie proof bush house. The lotus plants here look like they will not go dormant so I am going to have to dry them out so as the harvest the tubers.

Have a contact to sell lotus tubers as a food which is an interesting angle to supply + some interest in our parts of the lotus plants as well. Again lotus plant are more plentiful in the US than in OZ. Have to look at the legal areas concerning what we are doing. There are a few traps in it all that have to be sorted out.

It is too bad that this thread ended up in the weeds. Why sales are slow may be a direct result of slow ebay response. I notice that the ebay search result pages may causes Internet Explorer to freeze up and not scroll for seconds at a time. I believe it is due to slow loading ads. My concern is that potential buyers are being thwarted by slow and jerky response from the ebay site. Would it better to have more buyers and slightly higher fees instead of slow performance blocked by irrelevant ads?

Some "browser snobs" may argue that buyers should use a different browser. However, potential buyers cannot be contacted or persuaded to use a "different" browser, if indeed that would help. To improve sales it will be necessary to improve site performance for all browsers. Meanwhile, my fixed price listings are now up on the Stanley Gibbons site, store name clarkphilatelics. While the site is still a work in progress, the stamp listings are now in some sort of catalog order.

Many of the browser issues are avoided by using the ebay app on the iPad or iPhone, which I use almost exclusively. For me the bane of ebay is search, because sellers use so many different listing title formats.

The Stanley Gibbons interface you provided looks great. Ordering by cat number is a great advantage for those of us with want lists. It's also helpful to see multiple examples in different condition with different pricing side by side. It's fast on the iPad. I will be placing orders there.

I've had mixed experience in the last few weeks (selling cards). Got rather disappointing bids on some better items, so decided to concentrate on cheap material utilising free lstings. Most of this seems to be going, not necessarily at rock-bottom prices. Card sales are overwhelmingly to the UK.

My first generation iPad now frequently crashes when I access "busy" sites that are crammed with adverts. ebay is one of these. Amazon, oddly, is not.

Latest one, ebay member has raised a claim for money back on three items they won. Problem is they never paid for them. Now that's nuts how can you raise a claim if you never paid? Good one ebay

I saw a decline in what had been months of strong sales. I attribute it to vacations and other summer related things. I'm hopeful it will get busy again by September. I still currently have 700+ listings and I'm seeing slow but steady sales.

eBays search problems and freezing pages has been an issue for a long time.
