Very good advice here from PK and 1962. I am sure many used albums sold on auction sites could be a mess. However, I recently won bid on
ebay for nearly new condition 3-volume used set of Scott Platinum US hingeless albums. The 3 albums covering 1935 to 1982 are copyrighted 1989, but are like new and of very good quality. At $300 I felt they provide decent value for (3) 13-ring hingeless albums with my preferred top-loading mounts and Scott numbers. But when they arrived I found the volumes which are in terrific clean condition were missing pages for a dozen years! It took two months to get the missing pages, but to his credit, the dealer Henry Gitner, found them and shipped them at no added cost. Be sure to ask for scans of typical pages before buying.
