I'm having a hard time rationalizing the reordering of the initials, though.

I tried a couple Google search strings and only got this topic as a substantive result, so I have nothing to add.

The problem is Google helpfully reorders the initials for you in order to get more hits... And there are a bunch more hits for C.B.E.M.A. than for C.E.B.M.A.
