I'm getting six of them so I'll make sure that you get one. I have a friend who lives in Sweden and obtained the proper information for me. You can PM me with your address. Tom |

Quote: Please don't forget Katherine Hepburn! (I have extra MNH if you need one/two).
What film did she appear in with Ingrid? Others I didn't mention before are Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, Spencer Tracy. I don't know if Selznick or Charles Boyer had stamps issued. |

As usual, the friendliness in this community continues to just amaze me. Thank you all. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your help, ideas, and insights. I've been collecting for 20 years but am still such a novice.
BKing - I have seen those on the USPS website and gotten a few from time to time. But, what really has peaked my interest lately is being able to have my own address on the envelope. I know I can just "write it on" after I get it, but it doesn't feel the same. I LOVE the idea of being able to choose my own artwork from the internet. I don't plan on selling - these are only for my personal enjoyment. But, my printer definitely couldn't handle it and I feel like the amount of ink it would take would be tremendous. And, I don't know if it would really all come together printing on a piece of paper and then trying to fold it like an envelope.
Ikey - I've definitely noticed that. I've been able to get some for 4/$1 at a shop. But, they always have someone else's name on them. And, the truth is, I'd just like a few for me with my own address and name. I don't need to have every stamp issued. I think I'd just like a few here and there. I have a few Israel stamps - I try to get a few stamps and coins from Israel when I can :) But, nothing serioius!
Kimo - Everything you said in your post sounds like something I like. It's really for my own entertainment. Can you help me get into or find a thing like you are talking about?
sdtom - That idea and the example you showed sound and look amazing! I love that idea! I wouldn't really know where to begin on that! I have seen that a stamp under current value must have other stamps to make up the rate to the current value and so one would be kind of "forced" to add other stamps in. But, I like that idea!
ikey - I enjoyed your use of the word, shpritz :] Not enough Yiddish on the Internet, I think!
---
All in all, I think what I want is just to be able to pick out a stamp here and there that comes out, and send away for the First Day of Issue Cancel with my name and address on it.
If possible, I'd love to be able to find a cachet envelope to go with the stamp.
Is there somewhere a little more price-friendly that might have individual ones to buy to accompany new stamps?

http://stamps.org/Free-CachetsStart with the summer harvest series of four stamps. They should be available at your local post office on Monday or you can buy them online by going to the usps website. You can do one or four. |

sdtom: Those cachets look great! They are everything I like! But, I don't really have the ability to print them out and will need to find a place or person who is selling the envelope with the cachet on it. |

As data points perhaps representing the upper end of the FDC market, in the Spink USA auction scheduled in New York this week, an FDC of Scott 1006, the 3c B&O Railroad anniversary issue, with a handpainted Dorothy Knapp cachet, has an auction estimate of $200-300.
A non-cacheted, but obviously philatelic cover with one of the "Kans." overprints, canceled on the first day of issue and signed by a Kansas postmaster, has an estimate of $900.

I normally do not collect FDCs with the exception of a few special to me stamps. This being the 10th anniversary of the Katrina destruction of our city, New Orleans, and remembering the countless lives the USCG saved, I would like to print a cachet with some sort of a USCG/Katrina theme flanked with a USCG stamp and have it serviced. How does one get the cachet to print on left side of envelope using MS Word? When I try to print imiage on envelope thru Mailings and Envelopes it prints in the center and I would like to move imiage more to the left? Is there a better program or software to use? Thank you. |

This may or may not help. If you choose to use MSWord these are the settings I use for cacheted covers. Of course, printers can be slightly different and some settings may need to be customized a bit further to accommodate the specific printer you are using, but it's a start: |

Thank you wt1. I was using the mail function on MS Word but I see you are using the regular page set upand centering imiage, then opening the tray so a page will not print, placing an envelope in envelope section of printer, then print? UPDATE Just accompished the setup and practice print -perfect. |

Glad I could help. I do not use the "mail" function for this because of the exact reason you pointed out: It centers the data as an address. If you use the regular page setup it allows you much more flexibility.
