I am surprised that Postes Canada did not issue any stamps for the 2015 Pan American Games which are being held in Toronto this month. One of the premier world sporting events and no commemoration? Does anyone know if there are any venue cancels?

Glenn, I think this is a good question. After all, a stamp for the FIFA women soccer cup, and none for the PanAm games? Previous Canadagames had their stamps , same for Commonwealth games, Olympics, World University games etc...

Could it be that the Canada Post selection committee was too busy going through what the PR flack says is the "rigorous approval process" in selecting photos for the UNESCO World Heritage sites set that the Pan-Am games were overlooked?

Strange, since sports and athletes have been popular topics on Canadian stamps for many years

Or, maybe the brain-trust didn't get the memo, three years ago, that the games were to be held this year. The committee says it needs three years lead-time to decide on the stamp issues for a particular year.

Three years to create a "Hoodoo Hullabaloo" and no games stamp.....Huh?

Answering my own question. Sports Philatelists International reports that one special cancel was used at the athletes village.
