I found this nice Berlin, Ontario postmark on a Queen Vic in my collection. Berlin became Kitchener in 1916 b/c of anti-German sentiment during WWI.

Does anyone know what the 'E' refers to?

Nice and really clear. Odd there is a dot beside each number in the year. Kitchener was the Town of Berlin until 1912 and the City of Berlin from 1912 until 1916.

Meaford was another town that changed its' name from St Vincent. And Port Sarnia became just Sarnia.

Agree that the E is for Evening, following the British handstrucks where M=Morning, A=Afternoon, E=Evening, N=Night

I also noticed that Montreal postmarks don`t always have the year. Some postmarks from the US also have no year.
