Hello all, I introduced myself in the intro section, and I want to thank you all for reviewing the current U.S. Hingeless albums. I collected from 1974-2002, and now that I am back in the game, so much has changed that I feel like a complete novice again. In the mid '80's I purchased a Scott Classic US album, and I meticulously cut out mounts for all my stamps. Fast forward to 2015, and there are now several choices of hingeless albums! I decided on the Palo Hingeless US 1847-1940 album, and it should be here in about 2 weeks. I'll post my thoughts when I receive it.

Can I ask what made you come back to the hobby? Age, illness, job change or retirement. Just curious |

Age and nearing retirement were two factors that brought me back into the hobby. In 2002, our house was burglarized (no one was home at the time), and my entire stamp collection of 28 years was stolen along with every single accessory/mount I ever owned. Just the thought of starting all over again made me sick, but 13 years of not collecting has rekindled the obsession again. Its nice to be back, but wow have things changed (for the good) since I left the hobby |

The Palo album arrived today, and I have to say that I am blown away! The quality of this album is incredible, the paper stock is heavy, and the top loading mounts are perfectly arranged. Far cry from the album I purchased in the mid 1980's. Was it expensive? Yes it was, but for me, I wouldnt do it any other way. |

I had the same impression when I purchased my first Palo Album. They are incredible, but also expensive. As you might already be aware, they are based on the "Steiner" pages, but if you compare the two, Palo has taken advantage of the additional space on the pages and combined a few split sets that didn't fit on a single 8 1/2 x 11 page. Enjoy your new album! |
