Hello SC,
I have the Scott Volume 1 A-B but these are some covers that are in other volumes. I got these mixed in with American covers. Any value/identity help appreciated.
Thanks

Both from Costa Rica, they won't be in Scott since Scott doesn't show postal stationery. Try Higgens & Gage...

To save your having to mortgage the kids to get a copy of Higgins and Gage, these are listed in Ascher as printed by Waterlow & Sons, London and issued in 1890; which means that San Francisco cancel which looks like a deformed 1882 is actually a deformed 1892.

There was also a 5c orange. I presume that was for internal rate, and yours for external.

H&G catalogs can be purchased on ebay by country these days. A complete catalog will set you back a minimum of $400 plus. There are specialty catalogs dealing with regions of postal stationery, but they are few and far between finding them. Michel (Germany) puts out great Europe and Germany catalogs. The are others for Japan, Canada, USA, Africa, India, etc. Building a library is a GOOD thing, saves you money down the line when you actually get serious about collecting postal stationery. Subway Stamp Store has a good starter selection of postal stationery catalogs. Other dealers do as well.

I have a few hundred postal stationary pieces from 1860's to 1940's that are mostly U.S.
Once in a while get some outside the U.S. and should go to the library for them. I get most from friends that know I have some interest and usually give them to me because of that. I will need to get a catalog for the U.S. for my library. I have around 500 world (many Japan pre 1950) stamps that need to be looked through that I have acquired, but mainly the collection is U.S. Thanks for your advise PoStat4evR and Bamra1. I'm still learning!

Stamppaige: you're welcome. Any other Costa Rica related question I would be more than glad to help.

H&G is a fantastic source, IF you ignore the valuations dating back to the 1950s.
