There is Cachet and Maximaphily where there are unique postmarks and the postmarks indeed have to match the stamp and postcard. I am not an expert in this but here are some examples that are close to what the actual field is. You may need to read up on this.

Being a sports fan, those are very cool. Is there a site with addresses I can send mail to to get cool postmarks like in your pic?

Some collect, in addition to postmarks, collect auxiliary markings on cover. These are markings placed by the post office to denote some mail process.

Here is a "Missent" marking in blue. The cover was missent to Charlottesville instead of Clarksville

Here is a cover with two auxiliary markings, a pointing hand, and the notation "Name Duplicated in Directory".

Here is a more contemporary cover with an uncommon marking. $0.20 in postage was added after the original postage was cancelled.

The cleaned up marking:

Cheers,
Antonio

Antonio, those are very cool and definitely food for thought for collecting. I've seen the pointing finger before many years ago and never gave it a second thought.
Love being a member here. Everyone is so helpful to noobs, and very educational.
Thank you all so much for all of your help. I'm sure I'll have many more questions, and I think I found the right place to have them answered.
I may start collecting these as soon as my boys and my stamp collection is a bit more advanced.
Thank you all again!

Jeff

I'm not sure how collectors get those cool postmarks. I got those two at a Stamp Show. But if you search for Maximum Cards or Maxi-Cards on ebay or Maximaphily on the web then you may find out where these collectors get them. There must be a place because I have seen alot of these with all sorts of different subjects - including Sports !

Thank you for the links and info, Hal. Have to look into them. Jimjung, even though I'm not a soccor fan, I do like that one. It's amazing what is out there that I never knew about.
