That's what I thought too, Jenny2U. But then I realized that I should have received somebody else's order. I received nothing and haven't heard from the seller since yesterday. I'll give it another day or two and then panic. I was hoping Nicholas Lemke would be on this site and would see this thread. Maybe he did!

Just recieved an expensive piece of mailing that got lost on its way to France.

It did make it to France but France mail has marked it as unreadable.

It was posted in early February best part of 6 months lost.

Nice to have those stamps back.

Its lose has caused me a lot of stress unfortunately.

KGV: Funny, I mailed a cover to South Africa last February and it never show at the buyer's home. I gave a refund for it back in March. This month it came back to me, nearly six months later. I accidently wrote a 9 instead of a 6 as part of the street address. It's my error, but you think the postal carrier could figure it out. The buyer had a pretty unique name. They didn't even bother to try and sent it back on the slow boat. I did contact the buyer, but haven't heard back. Oh well, stuff happens.

After hearing those stories, maybe I shouldn't complain.

Anyone that buys and sells and then ships my USPS surely has noticed a decline in service over the last 12 months. It's very apparent and starting to get a bit annoying. Doesn't seem to make any difference if you purchase tracking or not.

Kcaramat, in point of fact the USPS does not give better service with tracking. I am currently waiting on an ebay lot shipped from Texas with tracking which should have arrived on August 4th. Guess what? The ebay item posting shows the movement of this lot, and it has been sitting in the local postal office since August 4. Too many postal employees on vacation I'm guessing.

I have received all three of the domestically purchased lots shipped the week previous to this item. None of them had tracking.

Totally agree! The fact that we can now watch the incompetence makes it even more frustrating. Items sit for long periods of time in one place. They get hung up in processing centers and can't seem to get out.

Regular first class mail seems to move much smoother. Junk mail never gets lost !

I waited 2 weeks for a delivery sent from Toronto to NY with "expedited parcel" service. It took 2 days from Toronto to the US sorting station in Illinois where it sat for 8 days and then 4 days to get to Albany NY and then another to get to my local Post Office.
I agree service has decreased severely since the closing of so many sorting stations. One might think that with such a decrease in snail mail and the need to increase revenue, that the Postal Service would see to it that service improved.

I ship daily... first class with no tracking 90% of the time and typically the item is received within 2-3 days when in the system at 6AM daily dropped at the Post Office. I'm fortunate that only one package has "disappeared " over the past few years all things considered.

When I see a shipment stalled for more than 3 days, I assume the item will never show up. Unfortunately, I am correct at least 80% of the time. I recently bought the St. Thomas and Prince 1948 definitives set TWICE- and both times it was "lost" in the mail (once at Kennedy Airport).

I am reading some of this stuff with trepidation. I have a shipment mailed from Germany mid July that is showing as having been in customs in NY since Saturday. Looks like it was scanned as leaving customs 8-8, then went back.

Yes it was by DHL. This is my second transaction with him, he's a little annoying, you win a lot then he takes his sweet time to get it off to you. I wouldn't have bought again from him if I wasn't getting bargains. I paid via Paypal so if it doesn't show I hope I am protected.
