Family,
Update on this thread (that I started). The seller now tells me that he sold two ducks in July. One to Nicholas; one to me. He is going to send me a replacement. What's you bet that they both arrive on the same day? Stay tuned.

Stamps1962: I bought a few lots from a German seller (same seller? dunno) earlier this year who sent items via DHL. He was prompt in sending the lots and they traveled through Germany and to the U.S. just fine. But the problem was with the U.S. side where they would sit for a couple of weeks somewhere in New Jersey. The DHL packages were transferred from DHL to USPS and somehow that caused the delay. Once it left NJ it traveled quickly, but it went to Springfield, Massachusetts first before going to Albany, NY. The USPS works in mysterious ways. |

I have virtually no complaints about the USPS. No! Really! Maybe it's a generational thing, my being not quite old enough to remember twice-daily city delivery. Maybe it's geographic, having never been on a Rural Route - I grew up on porch delivery and have been on a curbside route for thirty years. Maybe it's having cultivated a personal relationship with my small-town PO staff. Likely it's a boatload of dumb luck mixed in. I do regular business with dealers in Japan, the UK, the Netherlands, Canada and the US. Getting mail from Canada is the worst, running 14-21 days. I could WALK from my home to Toronto and back faster than that! USPS blamed CanadaPost and vice-versa. "New post-9/11 regulations" my <ahem>... rear-end. Royal Mail takes 5-10 days. My guy in Amsterdam has never varied from five business days over the past 3-4 years. From Japan it is usually 7-14 days. I get mail from Indianapolis to Central Michigan in 2-6 days; from NYC it's 6-10 days; West Coast is under 7 days. |

Here is my most recent USPS "un-problem" I won a couple ebay lots (~$35) which was sent using the eBay/USPS shipping/tracking service. The label arrived on Monday 8/3 - just the label. I went to the local PO and reported the issue. As I mentioned above, I know the staff and my carrier. The PM called me the next morning to identify contents of an unmarked envelope. Yup - my stamp order. The label was never attached to the envelope - no evidence of tape, glue or any adhesive at all. How static electricity held it in place for several days is baffling. |

...and my recent "what the...?"
I've been closing down two estates over the past two years. I changed the address on one of the houses online on May 28th as it was finally empty and going on the market. Got all the confirmation emails, welcome and goodbye packets etc in the mail. No forwarding. Caretaker forwarded the mail to me until June 23rd! |

Battlestamps- this is a link to the lot I bought; http://www.ebay.com/itm/17182217009...RK:MEBIDX:ITI'd bought a DDR album earlier this Summer from him and was surprised at it being in such good shape, only a couple pages will need replacement. Hopefully this one will be as good. It is out for delivery today, USPS tracking updated all at once overnight. |

Just for what it's worth, my shipment arrived today, very happy with the pages, better than the listing. One issue; before he mailed he kept trying to get me to agree to mail some additional stuff on approval. One was a Schaubek album that sounded to be full of stuff I already have and I said no thanks. Well guess what- he included it. No note or anything. I will need to ask if this was intended as a gift or what. I hope he doesn't expect me to mail it back on my dime. It is a nice album and would be a good started collection for Germany but I am past that level. |

Family,
Still waiting for my RW78. First I was told it was mis-sent. Then I was told it was sent but lost in the mail. Then I was told another one was in the mail. That was ten days ago. Still waiting. Not happy.

Family,
Its August 22 and I received my stamp today! Five weeks waiting. The odd thing is that I ordered the stamp from a vendor in California. The stamp came from Florida. There was email correspondence between the two vendors whereby my vendor admitted he didn't have the stamp and was looking for help from the other vendor. This is OK by me but a little honesty should have been in order. I zinged him (hated to do that) on delivery time but gave an overall "Positive" as he fulfilled his contract.

Seeking reasonable suggestions with regards to:
Purchased a nice collection of Turkey, have been patient awaiting delivery from the Netherlands.
5 weeks have passed, and I get this morning "Your auction lot has been posted"
The vendor was very reasonable at sale time, I requested Registered Mail He offered to pay half, and I paid within 20 minutes of his response.
I have emailed him asking why the delay.
I wonder if members would see this as requiring a negative feedback ? First time I have had this in 10 years of stamp dealings. I'll await his response, perhaps he has a valid reason.

Unless he was slow in pressing the "mark as despatched" button on his sales page. I usually post the day after payment. What I don't always have a sense of is how long it takes the items to reach other countries, as not everyone leaves feedback. But none of them has yelled either ... |

Quote: Unless he was slow in pressing the "mark as despatched" button on his sales page. Ah! right. Once again, proves to be better to bite one's tongue first. Thanks Geoff. My usual times from Oseas to Oz, Canada 21 days to 63 days Europe ususally around 3 weeks tops. Sometimes Mail still comes aboard ship, madding delays there. Biggest failure from human beings dealing, is lack of communication. If I get "oops forgot to post your stuff" I can handle that, but each day visiting your PO box for an expected parcel, can be frustrating when nothing appears. When do you holler? you think. |
