Thank you Dr. Bob for sharing your Michel's color chart guide. It was very helpful to view the different color shades. The first cancellation looks like faded orange shade, and the second one looking at your chart, a red orange type. It would be interesting to know if either are considered scarce at all It would be interesting to know if the color orange is a variance shade for this stamp. Like you have expressed, to find out the true exact colors of both stamp probably best to go that route to have it expertized. Thank you all for viewing them!
Unless the color is obvious, I cannot classify them reliably. I ALWAYS pick the cheaper version, unless cancel date makes it definite. If buying expensive stamps, NEVER pay the more expensive price unless expertized by BPP or such. Even then, there are fake signatures.
I agree with UWEINNH ,stick with the obvious . On my scan you can see the two major shades the bright rose which yours is but yours is faded and dull in the first scan . You also see on the black stock card the Rose Red shade these are the two most catalogs list . To go into those sublevels like I have is a highly specialized area and they don't show well in a scan . But to get all the sub-shades then as UWEINNH said then they need to be expertized .
i received these two stamps at a stamp show, they came from two different stamp books that I removed from myself looking threw them. When I go to the show and see a specific vendor, spend hours looking through so many different stamp and stock books. I purchased them for them for a very limited price. This wonderful stamp vendor has thousands of stamps from around the world, and over 75 books to review, and gets new books all the time. He truly does not look through every single stamp in his books. He only takes out the ones he loves and share the rest with the public. It is a true stamp collectors dream when many seeing him. He does not price every single stamp in his books. It is up to the collector to find out this information on there own. Sometimes he sells stamps out of these books, 10 to 25 cents a piece...He makes many collectors very happy and has done well for himself too. I have found expensive stamps in his stamp books before at shows in all different conditions, mint, unused, and used. So if these are very expensive stamp values, it would be interesting to know. I have been told the cancellations on the inflation stamps are more in demand than the mint ones. Im enjoying learning every day about the stamps I bought everyday!
