bidStart has been "temporarily" "down for maintenance" for about a week now. Or is it just my browser?

Anyone know what's up or down with bidStart?

Okay, thanks for the feedback. It was my browser. bidStart so often runs so slowly and the "temporarily down" message began appearing after a particularly lousy session, so I just assumed the whole enterprise had crashed. The tyranny of low [SG] expectations, I believe.

Hello,
Bit of a FYI here; earlier today I made a purchase on Bidstart and and went through the normal routine. Put the stamp in the cart, checked out, went to Paypal, logged in and paid for it. When I clicked on the "return to...." I received a page saying that I was going to an unsafe site.
Well I was somewhat taken aback by that. At the bottom of the page it stated that the site's security certificate had expired. It gave the time and date of expiration at around 1930 (U.S. east coast time)so it apparently had expired about 5 hours before I made the purchase.

Of course I had to investigate so I googled for info. A site was given for an outfit that checks the security of websites, htbridge dot com
So I typed in bidstart and sure enough they had a failing grade of F. Had a bunch of info including that their cert had indeed expired.
I tried a few other stamp sites just to confirm that it wasn't a fluke. Gibbons was A rated ; ebay had A+; 2go had a C.

Either Stanley Gibbons is just asleep at the switch or else they purposely let it lapse to perhaps make an effort to get more folks to go over to their marketplace and if one wanted to continue using Bidstart it would be pretty much at one's own risk.

We'll see.

Yep ... HTTPS sites require a Security Certificate.... typically renewed annually. If it (the security certificate) laspes, then you get disconcerting messages saying the site is unsafe and asking you if you want to continue, or just flat out blocking of the https site.
