One of my collections is the Cleveland Circuit R.P.O. - a streetcar route that served several Cleveland post office stations. I recently picked up this somewhat ugly duckling example of the handstamp and noticed it has the month, date, and then year. The orientation for my other examples has the year at top, then the month and day.
It's a minor variety but one that I hadn't seen before. Does anyone have another example? I don't have another 1908 example to compare with so I wonder if it is a characteristic of early use of the marking (service started in April 1908 but the earliest reported handstamp is in June or July).
