I've had these lurking at the back of my Estonia collection for a few years. I really don't know very much about them other than the location of Virumaa within Estonia. Given their currency is in kopecks and roubles, I assume they are pre-1919 local post labels.

Any helpers out there?

This would appear to be a fantasy issue of that era. The Estonia Philatelic groups do not acknowledge this issue. However, other groups have noted the stamps exist!

Hurt and Ojaste list these designs in their excellent catalog " Estonia Philately and Postal History Handbook" (786 pages) of 1986. If you can, "latch on" to one of these books when you see it come up on ebay. If you can get it for under $50, you've gotten a great bargain.

Anyway, these labels are listed and described in the section on "Phantom (Bogus) Issues". It appears you have the complete set. Very nice!

Bob, many thanks for the information. I knew there was a book out there but couldn't pin down the title or author. I'll get hunting.
