All,

I received this email today notifying me that my password with the United States Stamp Society was changed.

This has the look of a phishing attempt. I'm not aware I even have a password for the USSS website. I went to the USSS website and saw nothing that would require me to input a password. The Contact Us page does not even have email links: they are all snail mail addresses. If you receive this email, do not click on any links in the message.

Unfortunately, this means somebody has access to the USSS membership list containing member nos. and email addresses.

Robert

Edit: The USSS leadership does have email addresses. They are embedded in the names on the website. I will send the Executive Secretary this email.

I received a response from the Executive Secretary.

Quote:
Robert,

My apologies for the email that you received in error.

The United States Stamp Society will be launching a new website shortly, and today we imported the membership list. The automated email that you received was generated by that import process for an unknown reason.

Please be assured that all is well, and we have not been hacked....sorry for the inconvenience.

All is well.

Robert

If you wish to access digital back issues ( Digital Specialist Archives) and click on those words, you will come to a login page. The annual dues are worth paying just to have access to every issue from 1930 through 2013. If you're interested in contemporary US issues (by contemporary, I mean, 20th and 21st Centuries), you should be a member of the USSS.
