Hello all. I have a Canal Zone stamp that seem to have been overprinted on both sides. I could not find any mention in Scott of such a situation. Wondering if anyone has seen this before and if so if there is any "premium" on such a stamp for the backside overprint. Please see pictures and thanks in advance.

I would think a proper overprint would look just like any other. This looks more like a transfer from the previous sheet in the run.

That said, there is a lot of variation in the overprints used on the Panama stamps.

EDIT: Is that a hinge remnant on the stamp's back? It looks like the transfer lays on top. That would be weird.

my guess: no premium, not an error

This is an offset transfer of the overprint caused by the inks not being sufficiently dry enough when the sheets were stacked. This is a common problem in areas of high humidity.

These offsets are very collectable and sought-after by many collectors; however the premium for these offsets is often minimal.
