Here is an interesting stamp in an auction

Is the catalog price still $10,000.00 as quoted if tone spots & pencil notation on back / short perfs?

Too many sellers play games with 'catalog value'. Catalog value is virtually meaningless if the seller doesn't bother to list which catalog they are referring to; there can be large deltas between a Scott value and a Brookman value. And which year (version) catalog? Again significant differences can exist in the same catalog but separated by a few years. Look it up yourself and ignore what the listing puffery says. Also make your own call on the condition.
