A cautionary tale ... as we learned when we were in the nursery....
We have been collecting the stamps of Antarctica for decades, and Eunice has a complete collection of the Australian Antarctic Territory and was buying them as they came out, but was busy so did not write them up as she went.
When she finally got around to it, there were 10 years of stamps to be mounted and written up.
When she reached 2005 the Aviation in the AAT set she opened up the set of Maxicards bought from the Post Office at the time and found that there were only 3 in the pack, not 4. The missing one was the top value, the $1.45 Douglas DC-3 Dakota C-47.
So we are wondering if some other lucky punter has a set with 2 of that maxicard in!
They are really attractive and the design is not the same as the stamp, but shows the aircraft in use in Antarctica. This illustration is the 50c showing the de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver
The fortunate thing about this is that they can be used for postage, so we will just have to buy another set and use these three.
However, someone out there in cyber space may just have one of those spare which they would be willing to trade for something else philatelic (we have all sorts of odds and ends around the house)
As the late Sir Terry Pratchett said "A million to one chance comes up 9 times out of 10" or something like that.
Cheers Ron and Eunice
