Ebay Bidder Not Paying On $2000 Worth Of Items

Well the title here says at all. I have had to raise unpaid cases on $2000 worth of ebay items won in auctions from me since early August by one ebay bidder. He is not paying the invoice. ebay created a second invoice for bidder for his current items but the old invoice for $2000 sits unpaid for weeks. I made several attempts to contact buyer yet he ignores me. I know he is getting the messages because he is still bidding and has replied to me in past on other things. What else can I do here? This guy likes bidding but not paying should I block him?

ebay needs to have some sort of safe guard here where if a bidder owes that much money to a seller unpaid over a week they should not be allowed to bid further till they have paid on the items they won previously. Other ebay sellers do you agree? Has this happened to you with such a large sum of money owed by an ebay bidder? What was your outcome with bidder?

yeh this is really stressing me out, want some advice. Just take the loss, relist all and block him? And this really makes an important point on ebay ~ that a seller should be allowed to give a bidder a negative when bidder is in the wrong without worrying about the bidder giving a negative back to seller.

all you can do is block him and file a non paying bidder to get your fees back

I feel for you Duncan. Have had a similar problem with a Buyer myself. I would certainly BLOCK the bidder from future bids. I would also contact ebay and ask to speak to a supervisor. Ask the records reflect the issue and that the buyer be blocked from leaving you feedback. Curious if this Buyer has bid and paid for large orders like you mention in the past. I had one buyer who made several large orders and paid for each over a few weeks and then emailed me asking to refund an payment made earlier in the day since the items hadn't shipped yet and then combine with a later group he purchased to save him $ with the combined discount. I did so and he then failed to pay for all the items. After 5 days, an unpaid items case was opened. Two days later his wife sent a nasty email telling me he would not be making payment or any more purchases from me.

I think this bad luck happens to all sellers at some point I am going to block the guy and contacting ebay is a good idea. One thing I learned from the above reply from Don is don't refund any full payments just refund the postage amount. Yes this bidder paid on two large orders before this he did stall but not as long as this. Worse he had promised a week ago he would pay then he went silent. Maybe hes in trouble with his wife? What a bidder like this does not understand is a small hobby ebay business like mine needs the payments reasonably quickly to secure more collections. I am really easy going with buyers when it comes to them wanting to do multiple bids over some days but a month with non payment is just nonsense.

StampNut gives good advice about getting ebay to block feedback for these transactions. Beyond that, this situation has "time to move on" written all over it.

If the Buyer has a history with other sellers, perhaps ebay could suspend or permanently block him from bidding. Sad.

Publishing adverse information about ebay users a public site could have consequences. Sending a private message is another matter. Besides that, blocking a fake accounts would have minimal value because ebay will usually NARU them within a few days anyway. Besides, why let them know that you are on to them? If someone else picks up one of the account names later, an innocent party will end up being blocked.

Sorry Clark, but I disagree 100%. On several forums I participate in, "outing" problem customers is done regularly and as a public service. Since buyers cannot have anything less than 100% feedback and sellers can no longer leave negative comments, there is no way to warn other sellers about scammers and deadbeats.

In ebay's mindset, all buyers are angels, but we know that in reality, this is not the case.

I agree! IMO, it's another benefit of this forum. We expose bad Sellers all the time, warn others of fakes and shrill bidding...This is also the perfect and appropriate place to warn Sellers when a Buyer is a deadbeat or scammer.

Another argument for ebay requiring at least 10 percent earnest money for--at the least--larger bid amounts.

The most infuriating thing about this is that not only do some buyers bid on items and don't pay for them from some sellers but they also keep on bidding on the items of other seller's and do pay for those items.
