Ebay Bidder Not Paying On $2000 Worth Of Items

Thanks all a few have you have messaged me and I have sent the id through email but I think its against ebay policy to post ebay ids on line. So if you want the id to be sure please to send me a pm. I think ebay should never start a 2nd invoice when the 1st invoice goes over say $800 and no payment has been made. The id should be temporarily stopped from bidding until the payment is made in full. This would be fairer on sellers

You would think that they would have some sort of action against a bidder with say over 20 unpaid cases but they never do anything to these bidders. Note I don't call them buyers if they never actually pay for the goods.

I'm sure that somewhere there is some fine print. At least you still have the merchandise and the fees can be recovered because a transaction never really took place.

Yes at least I have the covers inc 2 penny black covers so I will be doing 2nd chance offers to underbidders. The fees returned but all the extra work involved in having to resell them to underbidders :(

As previously mentioned. This and other forums are chock full of people talking about bad ebay sellers, naming them by userID left and right. If such a policy existed, those discussions would have long been clamped down by now.

You said your fees were returned so that must mean the Unpaid Item disputes were resolved in your favor and the deadbeat bidder must have many Unpaid items strikes. Is he still bidding on other auctions? I thought if someone got a lot of unpaid item strikes they were suspended from bidding?

Why don't you just relist your items rather than do all those 2nd chance offers?

I rather try 2nd chance offers first as many underbidders are good customers of mine. If they don't take 2nd chance I will relist the items. There are heaps bidding in my lots right now so I am sure everything will resell. You should see the penny black plate 5 bidding in my store right now. People with a history many unpaid strikes should not be bidding if they can't complete the purchases. He won't be bidding from me again, he is now blocked / banned.

I agree with revenuecollector. Bad apples must be "outed" in order to maintain a more honest and positive marketplace. Recent rules changes by ebay seems to have placed added burdens on the sellers. Even outstanding sellers who have actually supported ebay's growth feel the company has forsaken them in favor of what amounts to a "buyer-can-do-no-wrong" policy.

Unfortunately, unscrupulous people in the Internet age can remain semi-anonymous and never be held accountable for their abysmal behavior. I have made many ebay purchases and I've sold many duplicate items on ebay, but not as a regular business. Luckily I have had only one non-purchase.
Since the range of people's ethics and mental condition is impossible to gauge, let's all agree on calling out folks who won't play be the rules; and at same time file our concerns with ebay.

I don't understand you ebay sellers. Why not have your own club or organization and pay $15.00 or $20.00 a year and have your own site to list and detail problems with buyers . Nobody can sue because each member just expresses their own problems with buyers on a private chatroom ,which is for members only . After a year or two there would be enough funds to go after a few bad buyers with a nice letter to ebay and the failed buyer to a meeting at a court house to clear the air about a breech -of-contract .
After a few letters buyers and ebay will get the message .Remember a judge can say to ebay clean this problem up or shut-down ,that what a judge in Germany said to ebay .

Then again, you have said here you haven't used ebay in 10 years, so I'm not sure why it matters to you what people discuss.

I want to be very clear about something. Aside from a couple of purchases without payment from fake Chinese accounts, I have had few problems with buyers. Sometimes a new buyer fails to pay and I may block them after ebay refunds the final value fees. The cure for more expensive items is to require immediate payment through PayPal. This seems to be sufficient.

The real problem for sellers is an excess of bad sellers. Over time, malicious or incompetent sellers have eroded buyer confidence and auction prices, forcing many sellers to convert to fixed price listings. Buyers will bid low out of fear that they will receive damaged stamps they don't want and can't return.

A few years ago I contacted a seller who was listing a misidentified stamp. I received such a nasty reply that I decided not to contact sellers I don't know. A couple of years later, the seller posted a group lot that included an unused 634A misidentified as a common 634. Did I contact the seller? No, I bought the lot.
