I am not generally familiar with postmarks since I do not usually collect covers. The one shown here has a New Haven postmark from 1859 but Connecticut is abbreviated Con. I have seen Ct. or Conn. on early covers but not this particular mode. Is anyone familiar enough with these to provide any insight as to whether this spelling was indeed in use at this time?

Thank you for any assistance.
