I would be careful, wood usually contains acids. The ad states that "We craft these with real Birch or Cherry wood over our core of 100% post consumer waste binders board (a strong paperboard)." I am sure many of us have come across toned stamps that were stored long term in wooden cigar boxes. They may seal the wood and this might limit acid toning.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'd be a little leery using recycled wood.

They do look really nice, I must admit. The wood will easy to seal with a little PVA. I wouldn't be concerned about the "cigar box" effect; remember that cigar boxes are untreated softwood, really rich in aromatics, and that it's a closed system. These binders are hardwood and keep the contents open to interaction with the surrounding air. If your stamps are stored in an acid-free medium I reckon you'll be OK. It is a pity they don't ship overseas otherwise I'd definitely buy some.

As Tim said, I've kept stamps in wooden cigar boxes for years and haven't noticed the slightest effect.

I've been using the same cigar box for 40 years with no ill effect. Of course, its a cardboard "White Owl" box.

If you're that worried about wood cigar boxes, coat the inside with epoxy and you won't have any problems.

Do you think the wood warning also apply to wooden book cases enclosed with glass doors? Much of my collection has been stored that way for over 100 years! I haven't noticed a problem yet!

Of course everything has been well-protected from heat and humidity. I believe that's very much more important than worrying about "archival quality" or "acid-free" storage. I think the wooden binders would probably be fine if not loaded too full for (dry, cool)air circulation.
