Right under your nose ,while your concern about the 30 or 50 Chinese stamps that get all the attention . Next week the U.S. and Cuba will start talks about air flights that will put U.S. carriers Jet Blue and American Airlines on the Island to service American Tourism .
I have calls in to the Miami Post Office and the airlines to see if there will be mail service on the first flights . As some of you know I am a collector of PAN-AM Clipper Flights and the very first flight of Pan-Am was the Miami flights . I have purchase 4 or 5 covers off E-bay over the last 10 years of the Cuban flights .
Cuba at one time had a very strong and active philatelic presents and you can bet this will come back ,it is a market place that has very real situation that will become hot . The question is who got inventory .

Yes, the world needs another Elvis stamp...

(Maybe I shouldn't be so pessimistic.)

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

I got a box load of Cuban covers. Local dealers here can't move them thus easy to get for very little. Unfortunately, until ebay removes the block on Cuba there's not going to be much of a run. Cubans themselves need to be able to freely get online and be able to make Internet purchases as well. Most Cubans will probably be looking for basic consumer goods and better jobs before having enough capital for stamps.

Actually several years ago, my wife was able to visit Cuba on an educational visa. She bought me back some modern Cuban stamps, but unfortunately all CTO like much of Eastern Europe - big and pretty. She and a few of her classmates were then mugged at machete point in Havana. She didn't do much exploring afterwards.

Don't you think there will be a flood of Cuba collections and covers come to the market when ebay lifts the embargo? I know I have a dozen collections sitting in a box just waiting.

Also worth remembering that the rest of us have been trading normally with Cuba since the Kennedys were scrabbling around buying up Havanas before the start of their embargo. Picking up Cuban stamps outside the US is not a problem.
