I have 3 of these. This is the first stamp I've seen with markings on the back. Can you tell me anything about these.

heide, there are a few--very few--Brazilian stamps with this kind of marking on the reverse. I've yet to research it and will be anxious to hear what others have to say.

They are listed in Scott. Although I keep an eye out, I have never discovered one.

They are graphite lines used in the late 1950's they were added as an experiment in the automation of mail sorting. I have a few but they are not easy to find.

well the good news is a lot of collectors havent seen them, thats why I like the forum, something else I can watch out for I didnt know about.

I feel like I should just donate all my stamps to you guys for all the time you've taken to answer my questions. Maybe when I reach 50 posts I'll sell the inexpensive yet interesting stamps I've found for next to nothing so they can go into a nice collection.

I have a 2015 Stanley Gibbons Concise Catalogue and no.s are as follows: Graphite Lined Issues 1957
SG 561 ½d Orange 40p
SG 562 1d Ultramarine 60p
SG 563 1½d Green £1.75
SG 564 2d Red-brown £2.40
SG 565 2½d Red £7.00
SG 566 3d Lilac £1.20
Values are for used condition. Not very valuable but reasonably hard to find in kiloware.
