Sent from Bayern to England, taxed and readdressed. Does the english stamp pay the tax? or is the postage for the new address? when was the tax collected?
Could it be 2 different actions? It was received at the original address and paid. Then readdressed with a British stamp added and put back in the mail stream for forwarding.
It looks much more like there was a postage due assessed, rather than a tax. And yes, if there is no return address on the card the addressee should pay the postage due. As John said, the British stamp paid the forwarding fee?
The Hotel Majestic is still going in Harrogate. Like many of its kind throughout the UK, it's just about kept up with the times, but from the outside it certainly is majestic.
