Beautiful! Haven't seen this one. Looks like a nice supplementary cancel...and infinitely preferable to the markers and ballpoint pen cancels one sees today.
For me, it looks more like an official strike to render void the value of the stamp. Which could be very interesting.
In a previous forum, there was a picture of a british stamp overprinted cancelled (the owner said it was the most expensive single stamp) https://goscf.com/t/19424&whichpage=3
I may be wrong, but, I strongly believe that this is some type of 'fiscal' cancellation. It could have been used to pay a tax and was possibly applied to a cheque (check)?
