Milano, Venetia. Now Milano (or Milan in English) in Vicenza Province, Italy.

Bassano, Venetia. Now more commonly known as Bassano del Grappa, also in Vicenza Province, Italy.

Thanks Vacallo for the correction. I am also asking the mods to correct the title to Lombardy. Yikes a bad day.

BeeSee - Absolutely magnificent. You don't need any database to identify those postmarks - lucky you.

I'm the maintainer, from a technical point of view, of this database:

http://www.lafilatelia.it/lombardoveneto/

it's in Italian, though.

You can find Fonzaso here:
http://www.lafilatelia.it/lombardov....php?cod=257

and Maniago here:
http://www.lafilatelia.it/lombardov....php?cod=343

At the bottom of each page you can find the known usages of the postmarks on the different issues.

It's a work in progress and there is a lot to do.

BeeSee thanks to your stamps I've update the usages for Fonzaso and Maniago!

Oh I will keep it Jon . I think the stamp is type II, with the solid frame around the coat-of-arms, and the raised "5" in 15.

I were often unsure if I had type II or III, because Scott's description of the type II and III make them a little difficult to differentiate. In my the experience the single or double frame around the coat of arms is not that obvious, as heavy inking or poor impression may make it hard to say which is which. At least my stamps have been like that, maybe someone else find it a bit awkward. The description and illustrations in Sassone is better, as they are refering to other more obvious differences, particularly the figure '5':

Google translated:

((II e III tipo: Cifra '5' aderente al filetto superiore del cartiglio. 'K' intatta. La cifra '5' é chiusa nel II tipo (la pallina é unita al tratto verticale); normale nel III tipo.))
II and III type: The figure 5 adheres to the upper thread of the cartouche. 'K' is intact. The figure '5' is closed in type II (the ball is joined to the vertical section); normal in the III type.

((III tipo: la punta dell'ornato inferiore destro, sotto lo stemma, piu corta e schiacciata (lunga e appuntita negli altri tipi). La cifra '5' é regolarmente aperta a sinistra.))
III type: the tip of the lower right wing, beneath the coat of arms, is shortened and crushed (long and pointed in other types). The figure '5' is regularly open to the left.

@Brian - hopefully this helps so you do not need to only 'think'

All true damage, it's a very good specimen for reference. A keeper …
It's an 1850 handmade paper type IIa .

Here 4 keys references to make it a IIa :

Sasonne and Scott are very limited in colors varieties; I will recommend the Huber/Wessely book or the Austria Netto catalogue for way better description.
