Is This King George V On Blue Paper Rare..common?

I found this 2 cent stamp in a mixture and cannot find a reference to a blue paper variety. Error? Common? It is pictured next to a regular 2 cent than with other issues on blue paper. In the last scan it is the stamp to the far left.

I would guess that your stamp was soaked off a blue envelope, which more than likely stained the stamp blue.

That is a possible explanation, Jenny2U. It is pretty uniform color though and all the previous definitive issues included a blue paper variety. If blue paper from a previous issue was used there would be an entire sheet printed and sold which should result in more than one example.

The true believer will always find a reason to ignore sound advice.

If, after 100 years or so, ZERO other examples of this stamp have been found printed on blue paper, it would seem very highly likely that the stamp is stained.

If there is any question that this is not true, the stamp should be submitted for expertization.

I think after all it is likely stained, dyed , what have you. I am pretty much a novice in regard to Canada stamps and "put two and two together" with regard to previous issues having denominations printed on blue paper. I might be more hard headed about my other post in regard to scott # 691. I might pay to have that stamp expertized just to solve the mystery being regarded to as a "changeling".

The Canadian stamps that have been printed on Blue paper, are also stamps using Blue ink. Why would you print a Red stamp on Blue paper?
