Ebay Apathy Towards Obvious Philatelic Rip-Offs

It doesn't surprise me that our French friend continues to post philatelic rip-offs; but ebay's complete lack of action borders on negligence. In his latest rip-off listing, seller collectionneurtimbmonor lists the usual rarities that he does not own. Check out his listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/Collection-...AOSwT5tWJhWg which contains rare inverts but also lists material taken directly out of a Bill Langs listing (as shown below)



ebay greed apparently overrides any concern of this type of bogus listing. I was told that a few years back it took 18 BPA certs stating 'forgery' before ebay would close a sellers account. I wonder if ebay will ever close our French friend down, there could hardly be a more obviously fraudulent listing. I wonder if Bill Langs complained, as a high volume seller, if ebay would then do something about it?

He could complain about stealing his pictures but I doubt he watches for such things, I would really hope anyone spending so much money would investigate before they bid. An even bigger problem that nobody sees here is anyone who bids this seller will have their email addy

Very curious. The seller sold many expensive coins on ebay.fr and received positive feedback. His high bidders don't appear to be obvious shills. You need to access his listings from ebay France to see what he sold/high bidders.

Yet he's back to scamming again in the US. And still the only feedback left for his stamp sales is by his one obvious shill ... his other stamp listings were all closed either by ebay or by the seller.

ebay will probably never act as expected in respect of scam/bogus listings due to its buyer guarantees. As long as no loss is guaranteed for a bad transaction, it has done enough ( ebay philosophy?).

So why complain just to ebay, why not the California Attorney General's office? Isn't facilitating fraud illegal?

It sure is if you can get them to act on it.

Guess the first 'buyer' didn't come through! I am still wondering how he will ship this collection since all the material shown in the listing is actually owned by other people!

Don I just do not get it.....some people get away with murder on ebay...and others get smashed for what seems like nothing.

All the hoops that ebay has put me through lately especially with the new ebay store.

You people are doing a great work. You are way beyond my experience.One sour deal out of Asia that took 4 months and 27 contacts to sort out but that is it, total experience.

I live in a land of a back water where your word is still your word. An example of this is I purchased our waterfront block of land where I built our home with a hand shake.
