Not near the amount of time I would like. I work in a garden center and have extensive gardens myself so between the months of May and October I spend a minimal amount of time. Late fall and winter probably 10 hours per week( still work full time). Dianne |

I've never mentioned it on this forum before, but I am a recovering alcoholic and am intimately familiar with the "real" 12 steps. Stamp collecting has been a big part of my life today in recovery, but believe me when I say that sometimes I think I just substituted one addiction for another. Of course, philately is quite a bit healthier, mentally and physically. |

Art - Thanks for coming clean! I thought I recognised something there :-) I've been there too, I am trying not go there again and I know exactly what you mean. Stamp collecting is like another form of cognitive therapy. |

I think the original question is a bit skewed to those who are actively selling stuff. I'm not, so my answer can be "I don't know." It's been over a month since I mounted a stamp. I do keep up with reading, including on this web site. I seem to go in spurts in terms of "active stamping." And, I've been at it consistently for 55 years now, starting at age 10. |

On average, when I am home (travel a lot), probably 2-3 hrs per day including working on my collection, looking at auction sites and this and other forums.
I retired a few years ago from a very demanding job and volunteer a lot of time for a local charity (3-4 hrs a day) which is stressful since I am president of it and responsible for the jobs of 8 full-time people and another 40 part-timers. Stamp collecting is the most relaxing thing I do; allows me to forget everything else when I am working on my collection. |

Art, That was funny! I am also a friend of Bill W.
Maybe I should read this at the next stamp meeting.

I would also say about 1 hr a day on average. I try to sit down and add some stamps to my albums in the hour or so before I go to bed. Sometimes when the wife is away, I can spend more time on the weekends. What I really like is in the winter when work is closed due to a big snow, and I can play with stamps all day After I clean off the driveway that is |

I haven't had time to spend any time at all, for the past 5 years... before that, I spent about 2 hours a month, for several years, since inheriting my mother's collection. However, now I'm down to only working part-time, and I want to pick up where I left off on the collection. Hope to spend at least an hour or two a week from now on! |

I try to spend roughly a couple of hours everyday, managing my stamps, studying them, sorting, etc. The major time for me goes in creating my albums, which I do over the weekends. Currently focusing on the creation of the album - 1935 Silver Jubilee of KGV. |
