What a dark day! If you can't trust Nevis and St. Vincent material...what's next? The Grenadines? Buriata? Oh lordy, I hope not.

Shodan, looks like you bought a bunch of wallpaper and now
you want to drum up some business here to get rid of the stuff.

I just checked your store. To paraphrase WC, never has so much been
asked for so little.

Here is one item,

Well at least shipping is only a buck.

Hello Lithograving,
If you are interested in lithography Format was the frontrunner during their short existence in the Lithographic process of producing stamps.

Indeed I sell archival material from the format Archive. it is a bit rarer than the regular issues being discussed. Read the description.

A little history. Those I purchased in one of the estate lots from one of your greatest Canadian stamp dealers. The late Mr. Kasamir Bileski. If you know anything about him he was a major buyer of several archives, Format being one of them.

The forgeries do not effect my stock because it is from press sheets that forgers cannot reproduce.

Wow...this is starting to sound like one of those other forums I was in......down somewhere

Shodan, thank you for starting the thread.

This is pure entertainment for me on a Friday night.
Too chilly to go for a walk, too old to go to the bars,
don't feel like reading or watching TV,
This is all I've got.

Thanks Shodan and SCF

Indeed he and I did not see eye to eye my friend.

What I study is very controversial and the truth really
gets under some peoples skin. Hard to get some people to
understand something that completely alters their way of
thinking over so many years.

When solid evidence is shown to them....the ego gets hurt...

As I was chatting today I created a new page on this set.
This is St. Vincent 1986 World Cup soccer Championship souvenir sheets.
It has been documented that 10,000 of each souvenir sheet imaged have been put on the market. These are all imperforate and fakes.
they are Scott# 952,954,955, and 957.
The normal issues valued at .65,.95,$1.00 and $2.50 respectively in 2005 Scott catalog.
They have gone up a bit in these later years.
Getting a complete set of originals meaning the full stamp set and six souvenir sheets is getting tougher. Most sellers are selling part sets.
It is interesting that the forger only released these four souvenir sheets. Possibly the rest of the set lies in wait....
they are selling on ebay right now being sold by Latvian sellers. Hundreds if not thousands have already sold.
Look at the high value and then look at an original and you will be shocked at the difference!
I have linked the page in my introduction page which hopefully stays linked around the start of this thread.
Sorry to say but many have been duped already! Don't be one of them!
P.S. I do not sell them
john

I can't believe that any serious collector whose been in this
hobby for a few years collects this trash.

One man's trash is another man's treasure, and that is something what makes stamp collecting as versatile as it is. All 'experienced' collectors should understand and encourage this 'truth'. Seeing statements like the above on SCF makes me very sad (but of course everybody's entitled for having their own opinion).

Shodan / John is a very knowledgeable collector in his field, and I take (and have always taken) his word seriously. Even if you don't collect any of this stuff, it does not mean that you should disregard (or disrespect) it. It's only a matter of time before the next wave will come, and it might hit something a lot more collectors are interested (in the end, it's all about and because of $$$).

So please, read the documents/pages Shodan is very kindly providing and referring. Even on worst situation you will learn some useful tidbits on modern forgeries.

Everybody reading SCB (my blog) got word of 'your discovery' already few weeks back. So the news is spreading (at least amongst those collecting the world)...

From your posts it seems you care a great deal about this. Here are two things to think about:

1. When people go to your site (they have to, because you are too busy creating the stuff on for example SCF), they are greeted with a blinking "Stamps for Sale". You also tell people to "get the word out". Some people may think that this is just hidden advertising for your selling business.

2. Everything on your site is heavily Copyrighted, so even if people cared, they can not share your message.

In your first post, you said "US based editors" have ignored you in the past. Have you thought about the cause of this?

You have not asked for opinions/feedback, so feel free to ignore this.

Happy Halloween to all!

scb Thank you for your support. Indeed the stamp collecting community will thank you for spreading the word. It is people like you that will possibly protect and help this hobby of ours from "going under".

ClassicalStamps.
I have had certain individuals criticize my site before. They are few and faaaar between. As I stated on other forums it is not about how my site looks nor what I sell nor what I have as logos.

Copyrights are my right to have and if you understood anything about them it simply means you cannot duplicate my pages for profits. If you want to copy images or quote something on one of the pages...you can freely do so. Note that I do not "watermark" the images like so many do. People all over the world have and do use them. Why? Because many I post are the best images on the web. They are genuine and not enhanced so you can see the actual true colors.

The cause of U.S. based editors ignoring the problem is because they are more concerned about their personal lives, getting "the catalog out", and not taking the time to do their job because that card game on their PC is more important than doing the research and getting the word out to the stamp community!

One main editor at Scott I sent a packet of forgeries and originals for him to analyze and get to the right people. This editor did not respond for two months after we had had numerous communications about several subjects needing to be addressed in Scott catalog until I got hold of his boss wondering what happened to the guy. He sent the packet back after the boss got on him, UNOPENED! He was too busy to look! That shows complete irresponsibility and lack of caring for any of us in the community. These are the kind of people making YOUR catalogs......

The word could have started out months ago because I tried months ago with Scott catalog, the APS president, and the APM head editors. All have and are ignoring the problem. Again....these are the kind of people running the show. Why no response...they might have to WORK!

And finally, I am too busy creating pages showing how to detect these forgeries. Try to do it yourself using HTML. It takes time to scan 1200dpi images, write code and make a perfect webpage that is optimized and acceptable by all search engines. To busy running a million dollar paint job at Bangor Naval Submarine base and too busy having a life with my family. So busy with this forgery project that I am too busy to continue working on my main project which is the study of the Format International Security Printers history and the stamps they produced.

this statement just does not compute!

Please think about what you are saying before making statements that are derogatory to the subject of the thread and really don't help anybody. The you...you...you...thing is really old and wreaks of certain members of that other forum.
