Hello. Is this the "green mist" re-touch Lyre Bird? Lines look to be there but I'm confused with this issue. Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Hi maverickx

It does not look like it, but I am no authority, there is a good enlargement in the Stanley Gibbons catalogue.
If you think it maybe, it would be best to get it expertised and a well regarded certificate.

Regards

This is really a beautiful stamp. I prefer these old lithographed works of art to the modern photo of some celebrity or sports person.

Hi David Y,

My fellow Canadian, that stamp was printed via recess engraving,
not lithography.

There are few excellent threads on SCF which will help
you differentiate between engraved,photogravure,offset/litho,
typography,embossed etc.

We had a thread on this particular variety ( the green mist ) just recently, but I have not been able to find it. Maybe someone ( with a younger memory ) can find it? The thread had some clear pictures in it!

We've had a couple threads on this issue. The best illustration was shown by Rod222 here:

OK, I found it, but still could not post a link. I am doing something wrong I guess.
Anyway, the thread is one by Jimjamtwo under the title: "Australia 1/-lyrebird- 'green mist retouch'"? It has some real clear pictures and a scan of the Stanley Gibbons catalog showing the varieties.

The other thread with a picture is .....

Look at the last image and the horizontal lines (green mist) under the letter 'M'.
