Hello!

This stamp was included in a lot I bought some weeks ago. It was filed in a "Bordeaux printing" page, however a close look at the numerals shows it does not belong to the Bordeaux issue (1870-71) but to the later "Larger numerals" issue (1872-75). I thought it would be a cut from the 80c perf stamp (Scott 63) but then another close look at the wide margins and the left frame of an adjacent stamp appearing on the lower right part (see detail) made me think it must be the imperf version (Scott 63a). I am pretty sure this is a Scott 63a and, as far as I know, it has not been reprinted, but I would like to know your more expert opinion about it. And just for curiosity, what's the Yvert or Maury equivalent to Scott 63a?

Thanks in advance!

Could it, perhaps, be Yvert 21of the French Colonies? Not an expert opinion, and I don't own a Scott catalogue, but the France 80c with large figures, imperforate, appears as Yvert 57c. However, Yvert does not list this in used form.

Ouch, the French Colonies, how did I forget!? I think you're right, it must be Scott 23 of the French Colonies, 1873. That's Yvert 21. Thanks a lot for your reminder!

Three good margins, and one close, but clear. Well worth having!

FSR - a beautiful stamp indeed!
It seems to have the 'mute lozenge' cancellation (lozenge without numerals), which is a telltale indication of a stamp used outside mainland France. Sorry for the close margin, still absolutely a keeper!
