I'm still new to stamps, and have a lot of holes in my collection. Usually if I find a stamp of some value I usually sell it to be able to buy some more common stamps I need. I have tried my best to see if this stamp is unused, and it seems like any discoloration of the stamp doesn't seem to be from any cancellation mark.

The main question I have, if I think it is unused, is it worth it to send it in for authentication? My Scott 2013 Specialized catalog does say there is a premium on unused stamps, but if it's not worth a whole lot more than the cost of sending it in, I would just keep it because it does have very good color (I have a crappy scanner) and also seems well centered.

Some people do consider mint (with OG) examples to be worth significantly more, although I do not give them much of a premium personally (I will always prefer a nice used example). However if it has no gum it is not worth much more then a used example if is worth more at all. This example also has some perf issues at top, so it's value is limited anyway.

Nope, no gum. Just some pencil circles where I think someone thought there was silk fibers but o don't think they are. Back into the book it goes than.

Thanks!

In my opinion, it is not unused, but rather uncanceled. Most "unused" 1st issue revenues without gum were actually soaked or steamed off documents. Personally, I only consider 1st issue revenues with gum to be unused. It's different from front-of-book material.

1st issue revenues with full gum *CAN* be worth significant premiums if you cna find the right buyer.

Makes sence. I have another unused with origional gum but it's not nearly as nice looking. Probebly keep looking for a diamond in the ruff I can sell or trade to start filling my BOB holes. First stamp will be a J12 I found in auction. Wish me luck!
