Many folks in this Forum have discussed printing Steiner pages and using other custom self-produced album page solutions. So I think this alternative resource should be mentioned for those collectors who might like to order custom album pages rather than be limited by their own 8.5" X 11" printer...

I just came upon a small business run by collectors who have designed simple black & white country pages for some 60,000 stamps.

http://www.albumpages.net/

Thing that caught my eye is that they will deliver custom printed page orders on archival stock at US$0.20 to US$0.30 per page for only the countries and or time periods wanted. Best thing is that page sizes can be ordered in three different trim sizes: 8.5" X 11" standard US 3-hole punch (or with no holes if using page protector sleeves), Scott National, or Scott Specialized page trim sizes with holes that match the Scott albums as well as paper stock that matches Scott in color and weight!

One downside: the pages have no stamp images; instead, the pages are crisply ruled boxes, nicely arranged with generous white space between stamps, with stamp denominations and descriptive type in sequence. This may not be for everyone, but the ability to order pre-printed, pre-punched pages that match Scott albums certainly meets a noteworthy segment of the market.

They also sell the CD for those who wish to print their own pages. But since most of us don't own a printer that will accommodate Scott's larger pages, the fact that this group can cost-effectively print and ship pages that fit Scott albums is very interesting -- and worthy of sharing within this Forum.

What do you think?

Hi Timm, I'm glad Steiner is supportive. While I have yet to visit Steiner's site, he has certainly provided a valuable service to collectors. But Simpson providing the printing to match three different specs is also very nice.

Yes, there are a few folks who are licensed (or otherwise "approved") to print Steiner pages. They are exactly the same Steiner pages that you or can print on our home printers.

Yes, they can print on larger sized paper. A word of advise to anyone wishing to go this route, request a sample page from them first. I did this and found that the pages were a bit "thiner" that I thought and importantly the holes were punched closer to the edge than normal Scott International pages. They also print on Minkus-sized pages.

Just request a sample before you order a large order of pages.

Of course its cheap stuff, the guy probably uses an adjustable 3 holes punch; this is why he can't do it more deep. Or the guy use the old Scott International Albums pages sold on ebay as reference, the holes are less deep than the new Scott one.

Online papers companies cut and make hole for any side of papers, someone can simply order from them and bring the Steiner's PDF to a place like staples and make them print the PDF on the paper you provide.

I didn't know that Steiner has provided permission for others to produce and sell his page layouts.
Of course good advice to get page samples! The level of quality is what separates collectors. Some folks love blank pages and handwritten text. I love beautiful cream paper stock printed with tasteful typography with lots of space between ruled boxes for each stamp, and I prefer clear top-load mounts. My beer budget hasn't made me willing to buy Palo. YET!

Palo albums are indeed nice. The price works out to be around $1USD per page (regular pages, not hingeless).

dcaraz1949,

I am actually rethinking Palo albums in order to start some specialized collections. The good thing is that you can order only the pages and the specific years that you want unlike most other album makers in which you need to buy the whole album. Also they offer certain countries in their Economy line, which I believe are still very nice.

And, if you don't like the color illustrations (not sure who/why anyone would actually like them!), you can just ask for black & white illustrations.
