I agree with KIMO and also Battlestamps. Do try Dutch Country Auctions http://dutchcountryauctions.com/

also check PETER BILLIS INTERNATIONAL on ebay http://stores.ebay.com/peterbillisinternational/
Peter often has cover lots - the lots are unchecked, he buys collections at Flea Markets, Local Auctions, Attics & Basements & Garages. He has a lot of stamps but sometimes he has some nice cover lots.

BINGO! If your willing to put in some time and miles, you can cut out the middle man and save money. Often a lot of money... By attending these things for yourself.

It takes patience though. In my experience, about 1 in 10 garage sales or country estate auctions will have philatelic materiel. But if you do uncover something, especially if it wasn't listed in the sales ad, you can usually scoop it up cheap.

In my area the stuff you find at the local small auctions, estate sales, and flea markets is sold as unsearched but almost all of it has been searched several times over. Most of the dealers I have spoken to have arrangements with guys who pay them for the chance to be the ones who get the first look at material found in attics and such so by the time it is offered at a flea market or local auction it is already well picked over.

For those who get Mekeels Stamp News there is a good article on the evolution of cheap covers. What was once a 25 cent cover is now in the dollar boxes. Due to the cost of tables at stamp shows, there are less dollar cover boxes but they are still out there. One of my goals at the show I run is to get as many covers I can to offer at the club table for a dollar apiece For the last two years I have been able to find some relatively unsearched covers. This year about 800 covers sold. I would suggest that auction houses would be one's best bet. The trick is you have to pay to play.
