On his blog "IMPRESSIONS TIMBRÉES", Papy24 has recently published a most interesting article on a recess-printed stamp with the highest number of colour varieties on record, as a matter of fact too many to be catalogued.

Here is an attempt to translate it into English:

MÉLANGE DE COULEURS

MIXING COLOURS

To reply to a pen friend about the stamp and its varieties:
The airmail stamp "Maurane-Saulnier 760 Paris" F 3.00 was printed in 1960 on a "Chambon" 3-colour intaglio rotary press in dark green, olive and green-blue.
This stamp, printed in more than 10 runs between 1960 and 1965, gave rise to a number of colour varieties, or rather colour mixtures.

In this detail of the inking device of the TD3 press, you can see two ink fountains, each complete with a precisely cut inking roller, the middle ink fountain having been removed.
In principle, when printing in 3 colours, the lightest colour is on top, the darkest below.
For this stamp, the green-blue colour was presumably at the top, the dark green in the middle and the olive brown at the bottom.
In their respective ink cans, the inks of the three colours may look alike and they are very easy to confuse.
All it took was a lack of attention on a team-mate's part while putting ink with the spatula in an empty ink fountain for the printing colour to change.
You should also be aware of the fact that the ink fountain at the bottom is not visible when the three of them are in place, which does not facilitate the refilling with the right colour.

Le bleu devient vert foncé :
The blue becomes dark green:
Le vert foncé devient bleu :
The dark green turns blue:
And even the dark green becomes olive brown:

Here you can see the way in which the cut surface of the blue colour roller inked the inscription "POSTE AERIENNE" and a little of the cloud underneath, as well as the bottom of the stamp.
All shades are possible depending on the amount of ink remaining in the ink fountain and on a different mixture each time.
All these shades of colour had not been detected by the inspectors, nor had they been eliminated and went on sale to the greatest delight of collectors.

Florian, thanks for translating all that.
Your language skills are exceptional and I'm sure
you must have been a Professor of Linguistics.
Even though I took French for a few years in High School
it's all greek to me.

This stamp was mentioned in a previous thread and AnthonyUK
showed a few of his examples here:

Here I compared mine on the bottom with Anthony's on top.
Not much difference in colour except his scan is sharper.

Hello, lithograving - No Professor of Linguistics, just a structural linguist by training and English teacher by profession but no Sprachmeister.

As for the colour varieties, just have a look at these:
