Good Morning!
Just before I read your post, I was going to write my own - but with the opposite bend.

I'm an avid buyer/seller of mostly stamp (Scott) albums on ebay and this fall the number of bids and dollar amounts appear to have increased substantially. At first I attributed it to the summer activities being over with, but now I'm not sure that is all of the cause. Of course I'm talking stamp collections/albums and not individual stamps - which may well be a whole different story.

Stamps sales always fall in December due to Xmas everyone is at the shops buying presents. Australians predicted to spend 9 billion dollars in stores this Xmas and during the sales. So they have no money left for ebay and online. And everyone else is on holidays or on overtime at work. Its a notorious slow time of the year for online stamps sales. Cover sales have dropped a bit but I am still getting some good bids. That's why I stopped selling loose stamps a few years ago and moved to covers & letters its a better market. On the plus side this is a great time to grab bargain stamps on ebay when everyone else is not looking.

Amazing stamp sales over the last 10 days or so.
No slacking from where I am sitting.
I am off to the UK for a short trip [6 days] and made all my spending money from selling stamps !

My prices must be very attractive !

It might be due to the particular lots / items you may have for sale?

Over past 8 weeks I have been very actively buying maybe over a dozen purchases...
British Commonwealth albums, small lots, and page groups. Seems to be plenty of bidders I am competing with. I don't offer to buy too many BIN as I find the asking prices are often higher than auction pricing. I saw this to be consistently the case since 2010 when I began investing significant money into my US Classics collection.

I seek good value via auctions; I feel I pay fair prices at the top of my bidding range. But most Buy It Now prices are dealer prices with a higher profit margin than I typically support.

I notice that I've been losing auctions lately (some by quite a lot) at prices that I used to expect to win at. Of course I only see the handful of items that I'd be bidding on at any given time, but it would be interesting to know what the overall trend is. I chalk it up to an improving economy, which in the US is finally almost fully back on its feet after the 2008 market crash.
