Hi,

I don't collect covers but this one came in a lot I purchased a while ago and thought I would ask about it. There is a price on here of $1375 so there must be something special about it or possibly just a wrong price? I took a few pics. Appreciate any help you can provide.

Sorry I was concentrating on the postmark (I know the stamp's value) ... here's one with 6KR postmarked Regensburg for EUR 25.

Thanks again. It's such a discrepancy between prices, I wonder if the previous owner thought there was something special about this one? Some of of the marks on the glassine may give another reader a clue. Thanks again!

Google the addressee? The address? The company name on the enclosure?

Dealers often have their own ideas what something is worth. I often wonder how they arrive at prices.
This past year I purchased two almost identical newspaper wrappers, both mailed from the same Canadian town, to the same destination, using similar small queen (Victoria) stamps, but a couple of months apart. Purchased from two different dealers from opposite ends of this province (Ontario), the first I purchased was 6 times the price of the second. No rhyme or reason that I can see.

I agree that there are some dealers out there with the silliest ideas of values. There are also individual sellers who have even sillier ideas of values and perhaps the notes on this are from such a silly dealer but they could also be from a crazy individual seller.

Perhaps these notes and price were applied before ebay became what it is today and when prices on some collectables were overly high because the person selling did not know how common their material actually was other than they had not seen it in their town before.

This folded letter is a simple bill of sale which is perhaps the most common and least collectable of old letters since that is comprised the majority of mail at that time, just like it is today. Most collectors are seeking letters that are personal letters and that discuss historical events of the day, or that are from or to someone famous.
