The Unpiex Show is this weekend. Not sure I'll be able to go but I thought I would pass this along for you at this board. New Location is:

3710 Chesswood Drive
(Allan Road and Sheppard Ave. West
Downsview (Northwest Toronto)

Got this message from Vijay via email from VGG for those of you who collect special cancels and Show Covers:

Thank you for informing the "Friends of the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library" of UNIPEX 2016 in your recent email. We received lots of calls from the recipients of the email (Your email really works! Thank you) wanting to know the time, venue or other details of the show. If you could send another email to the "Friends" I have further information, including Canada Post cancellation, picture postage stamp and show cachet.

Unfortunately while Canada Post will not be represented at the show, they were kind enough to issue the Official Show cancellation that will be available at the UNITRADE booth. Anyone who wishes to mail any covers bearing the cancellation at the show can do so. There will be a Canada Post issued bin at the UNITRADE booth where all mail will be collected each day of the show and dropped off to Canada Post to be processed as "manual sort mail".

For the first time in the history of the UNIPEX show we have created picture postage stamp in Booklet, single from the sheet and "keepsake" format and are all available at the UNITRADE booth for anyone who would like them. Garfield has kindly designed the cachet for the show and only 100 numbered covers are printed and available with the picture postage stamp.

Once again I wish to thank you and the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library for the tremendous service to the hobby and for promoting the show. Hoping to see you there.

Just came back from the UNIPEX 2016 stamp&coin Show.
Today Saturday the second day of the 3 day event appears
to be well attended by both dealers and collectors.

I got my 2016 Unitrade catalogue at the Unitrade booth
for $40 including HST ( Federal & Provincial Sales taxes are 13% in Ontario)
Some of the dealers were also selling it for $40 plus tax.

Most of the booths whether stamp or coin dealers were busy.

Here are some pics, sorry that they aren't very sharp.

This pic below shows an envelope with the cachet and the
Official Show cancellation and the booklets mentioned
in jimjung's post above.
The booklets of 12 were available for $24 plus tax according to
one of the people working at the Unitrade booth,
then again he was the guy who wanted to charge me $47.95+tax
for the catalogue even though a lady there a couple of hours before
said it was $40 including tax.

Just got back myself. Terrific show. Spent way more money than I should have, but came away with some nice covers. I recommend you go tomorrow (the last day) if you can!

We probably crossed paths, Litho. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say Hi!

Do you have a listing or do you know which stamp dealers are there at the show?

I went on Friday. Attendance was seemed to be high but this might have been a function of the room size. They could have had a larger room as most vendors were commenting on their need for more room to show and seat collectors. Parking was at a premium as it is somewhat limited.

Nonetheless, I managed to get the 2016 catalogue for $40 plus some flexo-grip page at a great price (Taxes included!). Also bought a bit more than I intended but I did fill a large number of spaces in my collection with "treasures" that I couldn't find elsewhere. I thought it was a good show.

It was the same on Saturday and no comparison
to the ample parking at the International Centre last year
for the CSDA show.
Then again it was free parking and not 10 or 12 bucks
like I paid at the Exhibition when the shows were held there.

My only complaint would be the poor lighting at some of the tables.
Those under a chandelier or by a wall light were ok but
for some of the others I should have brought a flashlight.
Some dealers provided extra lighting as the table
on the right in my second pic.

I'm curious as to how many forum members attended since
we have quite a few from the GTA.

I managed to make it for an hour as I had two hours to spare Sunday morning. I pushed my self to spare the time before visiting my Dad.

I met Vance of Vance Auctions while walking around and decided to check out his table and looked through his used Decimal Issue stamps.

I found some absolute beauties hidden in his book. Here are two of my finds at Unipex. Very happy I found the time to go !

I paid my 2016 Unitrade for 29.95$ + GST 5% = 31.45$ at my local store in Montreal(there should be only GST on book in Canada, no PST or HST!). I notice price increase this year because I paid 23-26.95$ past years...

jimjung, I chatted with the Vance folks as well, bought a couple of covers. Also had a great chat with Kathy the librarian from the Greene Foundation. Terrific lady, who seems to know just Everybody!
Very nice Queens, by the way!
