As far as I know, they are no longer listed in any of the major WW catalogs.

These are considered by some to be fantasy stamps, supposedly issued by the Epirus Provisional Government in 1917 as a set of 8 (and one surcharged stamp in 1919). There were two printings, and both exist perforate and imperforate. I'm not sure, but it appears your 2 stamps are from the first printing.

I don't know if there are any minor varieties that may be valuable to some collector somewhere. But in general, these are not rare cinderellas and the demand for them is not high. I would think you could get the entire set for under 10 Euros if you shopped around.

Excellent, rod222! If I'm not mistaken, I think the overprint also exists on perforated stamps. Was there a reason why you didn't have a spot for it?

Also, does anybody know how to distinguish between the 1st printing and the subsequent "reprints"?

Hi Kim,
didn't know it existed, I have not seen the Michel 1920 listings, jut going on Richard C Witt's examples.
A cloudy memory suggests the reprints were a lot rougher in print appearance, but that needs confirmation.

A google search using epirus 1917 locates an old pic with a perforate surcharge
so it must exist, I cannot load that page, it just goes to an ebay list.

Suddenly found my records, and I did know the perf existed , just forgotten

Linn's = "series was crudely reprinted"
