Hi all,
I just wanted to introduce myself as I am a new member. I recently started taking an interest in stamps when I found my old collection which had been tucked away for about 20 years. The collection of US stamps was started by my great grandfather in 1910 or so and was then inherited by my grandfather. My grandfather had no use for them so he gave them to me when I was about 12 years old. I had tucked them away and kept them with me for the last 20+ years not really giving any attention. The collection contains 200+ stamps from 1890 to 1940. I would very much appreciate help identifying certain stamps and would be glad to discuss if there are any of interest to any of you.
Thanks,
dave

Welcome, Dave, to SCF!

Members here love to look at inherited collections and give assessments. Best way is for you to post high quality pictures of the stamps you want opinions on.... both front and backside if possible and put about 10 stamps max on message. Please don't do just one stamps per message, unless there is only one stamps.

Good luck. Sounds exciting to get such a collection handed down.

Welcome, Dave.

We look forward to learning about your collection. Perhaps I am sentimental, but the great thing about continuing an ancestor's collection is that it gives you a connection to those who have gone before.

As you work with your collection, you'll be able to think about g-grandfather and what he must have been thinking as he collected and cared for those stamps.

Pretty Cool, in my opinion.
