My youngest brother passed away on Christmas day of 2015. He passed on to me several thousand postcards. I don't think any of them are valuable and he was not into "quality" ... if such a term can be used with postcards. As I'm a philatelist, not a deltiologist, I won't be keeping them. But I don't intend to sell them either. I am, however, willing to give them to the first person who contacts me & is willing to pay the shipping. My first thought was to use a couple of large fixed rate priority mail boxes ... but I measured the currently stacked cards as 3 feet by 1 foot by 9 inches. The 3 feet is a slight exaggeration as they are currently stored in old plastic totes. But it would likely take a half dozen such boxes. I have no idea of the weight, but if I find any interest I will research the cheapest actual shipping cost. I suspect FedEx or USPS might be cheaper. In any case, if interested, send me an e-mail. If you haven't been on the forum long enough to use e-mail, just post an answer in this forum. I will post a follow-up note if/when the cards have been claimed. ... John ...
My sympathies to you. What a wonderful gesture to pass your brother's large collection on to someone who doubtless respects your thoughtfulness. I believe that the three of you are happy now.
Having collected over 6,000 post cards myself, it is high time for me to set about preparing instructions to my wife /executrix to pass them on when I can no longer enjoy them.
