With the updated issues, I do like the Christmas Carols booklet design. It gives new meaning to "se-tenant"

Dorothy Height's picture is very distinguished on the website, I'm worried how it will translate to the stamp. If it comes out just like the photo, it will be one of the most beautiful stamps for that series.

The boutonniere and corsage are a nice side-step from the regular cakes and cartoon hearts...more traditional and forgotten history.

On January 7, 2017, in Chino, CA, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue the Love Skywriting First-Class Mail® stamp (Forever® priced at 47 cents), in one design, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps (Item 561600).

The stamp will go on sale nationwide January 7, 2017.

This new issuance is a continuation of the U.S. Postal Service tradition of creating stamps that celebrate love. The Love Skywriting stamp will add a sweet, romantic touch to your letters and cards, not only on Valentine's Day, but all year round. The stamp art depicts the word "Love" written in white cursive script against a blue sky studded with wispy clouds. Underlining the word is a decorative swirl of smoke. A small, stylized plane, dwarfed by the giant letters, completes the end of the swirl, with smoke trailing from its tail. Louise Fili designed the stamp, illustrated by Jessica Hische. Derry Noyes was the art director.

On January 27, 2017, in Norcross, GA, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue the U.S. Flag First-Class Mail® stamp (Forever® priced at 49 cents), in one design. The formats available are a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) booklet of 10 stamps (Item 674700) produced by security printer Banknote Corporation of America (BCA), a PSA booklet of 20 stamps (Item 672000) produced by security printers BCA and Ashton Potter (USA) Ltd. (APU), a PSA coil of 100 stamps (Item 749800) produced by security printers BCA and APU, and a PSA Automated teller machine (ATM) sheetlet of 18 stamps (Item 564400).

The stamp will go on sale nationwide January 27, 2017.

With the new U.S. Flag stamp, the Postal Service™ continues its tradition of celebrating patriotism with one of the most recognizable symbols of our nation. The stamp, sold in booklets of 10 and 20, coils of 100, and an ATM sheetlet of 18, features a detail from a photograph of the billowing Stars and Stripes. Terrence W. McCaffrey was the art director of the project and Greg Breeding designed the stamp with an existing photograph of the flag taken by Tom Grill.

On January 28, 2017, in San Diego, CA, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue the Seashells Postcard Rate stamps (Non-denominated, priced at 34 cents) in four designs, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps (Item 119600) and a PSA coil of 100 stamps (Item 749900).

The stamps will go on sale nationwide January 28, 2017.

Four new postcard stamps celebrate the wonder of seashells. Each stamp depicts one iconic shell found in North American waters: the alphabet cone, the Pacific calico scallop, the zebra nerite, and the Queen conch, commonly known as the pink conch. The highly stylized stamp art expresses a lighthearted, artistic view of shells. The horizontal swaths of white and blue in the background suggest waves washing the shells onto a beach. Art director Greg Breeding designed the stamps. Sergio Baradat created the stamp art.

Stamp Announcement 17-06: Lili'uokalani Gardens Stamp

On January 22, 2017, in Kansas City, MO, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue the $6.65 Lili'uokalani Gardens Priority Mail® stamp, in one design, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 4 stamps (Item 119900).

The stamp will go on sale nationwide January 22, 2017.

The U.S. Postal Service issues this Priority Mail stamp to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Lili'uokalani Gardens in Hilo, Hawaii. Built on land donated by Queen Lili'uokalani (1838–1917), the last Hawaiian monarch to govern the islands, the gardens were dedicated in 1917 and named in her honor. The stamp art features one of the gardens' most iconic structures, the red wooden shelter on a stone bridge spanning a portion of the pond. The bridge is surrounded by three of the gardens' stone lanterns and lush tropical plants. Art director Greg Breeding designed the stamp with original art by Dan Cosgrove.

On February 1, 2017, in Washington, DC, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue the Dorothy Height stamp (Forever® priced at 49 cents), in one design, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps (Item 474300).

The stamp will go on sale nationwide February 1, 2017.

The 40th stamp in the Black Heritage series honors Dorothy Height (1912–2010), the tireless activist who dedicated her life to fighting for racial and gender equality. Although she rarely gained the recognition granted her male contemporaries, she became one of the most influential civil rights leaders of the 20th century. The stamp features artist Thomas Blackshear II's gouache and acrylics on board portrait of Height. The painting is based on a photograph shot in 2009 by Lateef Mangum. Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamp.

Overall dimensions of the pictorial postmark must not exceed 4 inches horizontally by 2 inches vertically. Collectors prefer the dimensions 3-1/2 inches by 1.

The U.S. Postal Service celebrates the Gateway Arch, in St. Louis, Missouri, with a new Priority Mail Express stamp. The Gateway Arch was built as a memorial to President Thomas Jefferson and the 19th-century traders and pioneers for whom St. Louis was the gateway to the West. The stamp art depicts the majestic stainless-steel arch at sunset in its setting on the banks of the Mississippi River. Towering above the city's skyline, the Gateway Arch is reflected in the rippling water below, where a barge passes by. Designed by art director Greg Breeding, the stamp features a digital illustration created by Dan Cosgrove.

On February 10, 2017, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, the U.S. Postal Service® will issue the Patriotic Nonprofit nondenominated, nonprofit organization stamp (5-cent value), in one design, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) coil of 3,000 stamps (Item 755100), and a PSA coil of 10,000 stamps (Item 760200).

The stamp will go on sale nationwide February 10, 2017.
Patriotic Nonprofit, the new nondenominated, nonprofit-price stamp, showcases the letters "USA" in blue, accompanied by a bright red star on a white background with a blue border. To create the new design, the 2016 USA stamp art was rendered slightly smaller to accommodate the blue border. Intended for bulk mailings by authorized nonprofit organizations, this stamp will be issued in coils of 3,000 and 10,000 stamps. Art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamp with Leslie Badani.

For those of you who collect modern US mint stamps, I have found that the most efficient (cheapest) way of collecting these stamps is to purchase after you know what stamps will appear in your upcoming supplement. There's no sense in buying a sheet of 12 or 20 when only one will be called for. Unhappily, we don't know which ones are which.

There are exceptions. Below are two of them. Your cheapest way of buying these stamps is to go to the post office and buy them.

I would love to use your method but White Ace is slow as hell to put out supplements and they've abandoned updating their annual format guide as the year progressed. Now they just do a final at year's end.

Question is why they take so long now. Are they that busy? Are they at the mercy of printers in China? I have half a mind to buy their blank pages and make my own damn supplements to my liking. I could even integrate commemoratives and definitives like other manufacturers do. Hmmmm...

I had picked an older Minkus US plate block album and thought it was the right balance - more space for stamps (much simpler border) than White Ace, thick paper with rounded edges, reasonable descriptions added for stamps, and letter size paper with 3 ring format but it had commemoratives separated from definitives (like their numbering system). I use Mystic for my US and the one downside is the paper is thinner than White Ace and Minkus.

I use MYSTIC and buy their stamps annually to fill the year. Except for high value and ducks. This is the first year I've done it. I hope the stamps ordered will fulfill the supplement. They assured me that they will. I also used the post office to buy the required souvenir sheets. All were available at year end except for the National Parks. That one I purchased from MYSTIC. Theoretically, I should have all the required stamps in the right format. We'll see.....

The flag stamp reminds me of the 2002-2005 ones that were the dominant 37¢ definitives.

I watched a documentary about the Gateway Arch and its designer/architect, Eero Saarinen, a couple of weeks ago, and it was fascinating. I've never been to St. Louis and had no idea that the arch's base was so enormous!

The Love stamp is pretty good by the standards of Love stamps, most of which are so cute they make me want renounce the world and become a hermit. The NPO rate one does nothing for me; it's functional, I guess, but no more.

(On edit: I just got an ad on this page telling me where I could buy yoga leotards. I wonder if "hermit" triggered it. The only time I ever tried yoga, I kept falling over.)

The stamp will go on sale nationwide March 1, 2017.

This stamp celebrates the 150th anniversary of Nebraska's statehood. Known for its agricultural bounty, the Cornhusker State became the 37th state of the Union on March 1, 1867. Nebraska photographer Michael Forsberg tucked himself among prairie grasses on the riverbank between the small cities of Grand Island and Kearney to capture the image shown on the stamp. In the photograph, sandhill cranes fly low to scout for sandbars, which provide shelter from nighttime predators during a mid-migratory rest for half a million of these ancient birds. This spectacle along the Platte River is unique to Nebraska. Forsberg captured this image as winter thawed into spring around the year 2000. Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamp using Michael Forsberg's existing photograph.

The stamps will go on sale nationwide March 7, 2017.

The U.S. Postal Service celebrates posters of the Work Projects Administration, striking and utilitarian artwork created during the Depression by the Poster Division of the WPA Federal Art Project. This booklet features 20 stamps of 10 different designs originally created to support the civic-minded ideals of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal Program. Each stamp features a vibrant example of the posters conceived and printed in workshops across the nation under the WPA, a broad-reaching program that provided millions of jobs during the Great Depression. Poster images are from Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division, WPA Poster Collection. Antonio Alcalá served as the art director of the project and designed the stamps with Maribel O. Gray.
